Axel is part of a rock band. He and Harley used to be married but about 8 months ago, they got divorced. Harley was tired of coming second to the group and the groupies. Axel has no idea what happened, just that he wanted to give Harley whatever she wanted. The band is off the road for a while, so Axel rents half of a duplex. Imagine his surprise when the tenant in the other duplex is Harley! Not only that, she is very, very pregnant. She lies and tells him that she is only 7 months along. So Axel thinks she moved on almost immediately after their divorce. Harley is hiding a big secret--the baby is Axel's. But she's so afraid of getting hurt again, so she doesn't want to tell him.

I'll be honest, for about the first half of the story, I didn't really care for either of these characters. Not that they are written badly, they just aren't likeable! But they grow on you! And they cannot communicate effectively to save their lives! There are so many misunderstandings in this story, but it shows that these two characters are just so hurt by what has happened and when they finally figure it out, it's beautiful!
