Yeah this series is still amazing. And there were a couple of tiny, subtle things I didn't notice the first time. (First two times lol) When I read this the first two times, it had been like 2.5 years since I'd read Captive Prince, so I forgot a lot.
BUT THE MENTION OF THE NEW CAPITAL IN DELPHA. LIKE. WHAT. The two countries coming together. With a new palace in Delpha. For my babies to live in. Man I love it so much.
This story is still hilarious. I still love the idea of Laurent coming up with all these ridiculous schemes and Damen being his somewhat reluctant sidekick. Him in the hat with the feather too. LAURENT THROWING OLIVES DURING THE TAVERN FIGHT. LIKE. WHY IS HE THE MOST INCREDIBLY HUMAN BEING EVER.
Plus Damen and Laurent staring at the rabbit trying to figure out how to skin it. I can't. I CAN'T. I love them and this series so much.

For some STUPID reason, I didn't think I'd be interested in reading this. I was like, yeah Charls is fine, but am I interested enough to read a whole story about him.
JOKE'S ON ME.
This story was comedy at its finest. I laughed out loud several times.
It's also been so long since I've read Captive Prince that I forgot Charls thought Damen's name was Lamen. And it took me until about halfway through the story to remember that and I felt so STUPID for not realizing it because the subtext makes it so obvious.
But seriously, this story was so freaking good and legit I need to reread Captive Prince right now because I forgot how much I loved her writing and her style and seriously I'm dead. This was so much better than I thought it would be.
No, really. I finished it and then read it again, that was how good it is.
