Recs if you like Three Summers...

I created this list because I feel like Greece has been obscured by the long shadow of its classical heritage… there is more to Greek literature than the Odyssey and the Iliad. This will be updated with more books once PageBound allows a feature to transfer Greek-written titles from the Goodreads database onto here… right now it is a little tricky, as PB’s database isn’t as comprehensive as GR’s.

The Warwick Prize for Women in Translation 'aims to address the gender imbalance in translated literature' and is open to works of fiction, poetry, literary non-fiction, and fiction for children or young adults. Only works written by a woman (original authors, not the translators) are eligible. All works longlisted since the prize began in 2017 are collected on this list.

Stories by women from across the world, brought to us through translation.

stories of excess, sensuality, pleasure, adventure, reactivity, and eros, as well as stories that reflect the feeling of a summer holiday or the lethargy and fatigue of late summer

books where the main characters chase pleasure in their lives - where they fight to feel through heartbreak, violence, disappointment and more. hoping to read these as summer inspiration to chase my dreams and my own pleasure!

Books which document women’s lives throughout a century of change

Not many young girls dream of delivering eloquently rehearsed prose, but since I first saw the movie and I began my submersion into the lives of a Jane Austen character- my life changed. Here's to the girls that dream of being daringly witty and bold, may we be our own Lizzie Benett, freely frolicking the earth.

books which perfectly capture the heat of a slow, sweltering summer
