Works I would consider german literary classics. "German" in this context means "written in German", not "written by a German author", therefore Swiss, Austrian, and other authors will also be included on this list, provided they wrote their works in German.

Inspired by Magnificent Rebels by Andrea Wulf. Around 1800, some of the greatest German thinkers lived in the same city. The intellectual stimulation that took place during their dinners, walks, theater and art gallery visits, and correspondence resulted in new philosophical ideas and an insanely productive few years for many of them.
