Chimera (Parasitology, #3)

Mira Grant

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

The final book in Mira Grant's terrifying Parasitology trilogy. The outbreak has spread, tearing apart the foundations of society, as implanted tapeworms have turned their human hosts into a seemingly mindless mob. Sal and her family are trapped between bad and worse, and must find a way to compromise between the two sides of their nature before the battle becomes large enough to destroy humanity, and everything that humanity has built...including the chimera. The broken doors are closing. Can Sal make it home?

As the conclusion of the Parasitology trilogy, this was an incredible finish. I will always be in awe of the ability Mira Grant has to write horror that is, strangely, beautiful. She is so incredibly talented at making the horrors not only knowable, but giving them a sort of lyrical beauty that keeps you from pulling away. You're caught in a cycle of terror and wonder by her woven tapestry of words, and it makes it so very incredibly hard to pull out of the horror she's created. I mean that in the best possible way, of course. I am overwhelmed by the way this world was created by Mira Grant, and the way she makes you fully comprehend how horrifying the events of this story are.

Sal is one of my favorite characters written by Mira Grant, and I am so happy we got such a relatable character in the middle of this horror story.

I will always love Mira Grant’s writing.
