Working as the personal assistant to one of Hollywood’s cruelest divas has left Amanda Queen more determined than ever to sell her screenplay and gain her independence. In the meantime, she’ll settle for a temporary escape. When her employer is felled by the flu on Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, Amanda gets her glam on, struts out the door, and parties with the glitterati. But she never expects to come face to face—and closer than close—with one of the hottest stars in the game . . . Following up his first Oscar win with a steamy after-hours romp with an enigmatic woman seems like the perfect way for actor Sam Pleasant to celebrate—until she suddenly disappears. Worse, she’s vanished with the wrong swag bag: the one containing his Oscar statue, leaving Sam even more intrigued about the beauty’s identity—and wondering if a repeat performance of their amazing night is in the stars. And when a second chance encounter happens, only a trip to Sam’s family ranch—and revealing the whole, not-always-glamorous, truth about themselves—will give them a chance to turn one magical night into forever . . . “Wonderfully inventive…Uniting a heart-stopping hero and a plus-size heroine who knows her own worth, this steamy fairy tale shines.” —Publishers Weekly STARRED REVIEW “One of romance’s brightest stars…[this is] a thoroughly modern Cinderella story.” —Bookpage, Starred Review “Another winner from rising star Weatherspoon.” —Library Journal, Starred Review

Rebekah Weatherspoon knocked it out of the park with this one! Amanda is working for an actress who is, quite honestly, emotionally abusive. Amanda has a night off and attends an Oscar after party with her long-time friend. She leaves with first time Oscar winner Sam Pleasant and has an epic one night stand. Amanda chalks it up as a once in a lifetime experience, but when she runs into Sam at Helene’s wedding, she discovers Sam is interested in more than just one night!

Weatherspoon killed it. I loved so much about this book that I am not even sure where to start! This book is so body positive and is exactly what we should expect to find in all romance! Amanda is plus size, but loves her body and Sam obviously does too. I definitely appreciated that this book is very low conflict. The main issue that arises is not created by the couple and they deal with it together. It is exactly what I needed to read the night before the election! I would highly recommend this book. It was a complete impulse buy for me at Target and my biggest regret is that I didn’t preorder it!

4.5 stars! I received this through a Goodreads giveaway. I haven’t read the first book in the series yet but this can be read as a stand-alone. I loved Sam and Amanda! I liked the opening scene, they’ve already hooked up and Amanda is sneaking out of the hotel. Of course they run into each other again, and a friendship/relationship/banter begins. This is low angst on my scale, so lovely to read in these shitty COVID times.
