Recs if you like Ka: Dar Oakley in the Ruin of Ymr...

i love when animals get the chance to yap and/or narrate their own stories :)

recommendations welcome!

books with birds as main characters, books about the habits of birds and books on birding

fiction and non fiction

fantasy/scifi/whatever that does something I find exciting and at least a bit unfamiliar (in various age categories). Doesn’t need to be a perfect story, just one that takes a stab in an interesting direction.

Because who doesn’t love birds?? Fiction and non-fiction books all featuring birds prominently on the cover. This is what I spend my time thinking about 😭

"Double narration", when you have a character telling their story to someone else and we are just tagging along, if that makes sense.

I will try to add more as I read them. Recs welcome!

Per the Mythopoeic Society, Mythopoeic literature is work "that creates a new and transformative mythology, or incorporates and transforms existing mythological material. Transformation is the key — mere static reference to mythological elements, invented or pre-existing, is not enough. The mythological elements must be of sufficient importance in the work to influence the spiritual, moral, and/or creative lives of the characters, and must reflect and support the author's underlying themes. This type of work, at its best, should also inspire the reader to examine the importance of mythology in his or her own spiritual, moral, and creative development." It is creative work that exemplifies "the spirit of the Inklings", a writers circle consisting of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Charles Williams.
