Recs if you like Ada Blackjack: A True Story of Survival in the Arctic...

for anybody else who loved amc's the terror. a mix of fiction and non-fiction exploring both the artic and antarctica. i may also throw in some non-polar naval disasters such as the whaleship essex. i have not read all of these but they're all at least on my tbr

I have been collecting (and reading) a long list of memoirs, autobiographies and biographies about women who had fascinating lives. I thought I might as well make it a list! A lot of them I have read and enjoyed, some are from my TBR. I am especially fascinated by 18th-19th century women's stories, so there will be a lot of those. And women from diverse backgrounds. Open to suggestions!

In case you were curious at all, life is hard in the Arctic. If you enjoy reading stories about people getting marooned in very (very) cold places and eating their boots, this one's for you.

Nonfiction about arctic exploration, especially historical expeditions, with a focus on women. I am also adding some other intriguing arctic nonfiction books. Recommendations for more women-centered nonfic, and indigenous perspectives for this list welcome!

If you've ever wandered what happens in national parks, the answer is everything from murder, to cryptids, to history, to hauntings, and everything in between. National Park After Dark explores all that our parks offer with story's of heroism, survival, death, beauty, conservationism, history and animal life. Here is a growing list of books mentioned by Danielle and Cassy. Enjoy the view. But watch your back!

Please feel free to let me know if there are others I may have missed!
