I must admit that I read Texas Glory well over a month ago, but life got in the way and I never wrote a review - so now I can’t really remember exactly what I wanted to say, haha! But I do remember that I really enjoyed it. This is the second book in Lorraine Heath’s Texas Trilogy - the first (Texas Destiny) was a five star read for me, and Glory is a great follow on.
The hero, Dallas, is desperate for a son to continue his legacy. So much so that he doesn’t really care what woman he marries to achieve this goal. It was pretty entertaining to see him slowly come to the realisation that it is actually his wife that he wants and needs.
The heroine, Cordelia, grows throughout the book. Her family kept her so sheltered that she was almost a prisoner - so she is initially very shy and timid towards Dallas. By the end of their story, she has gained the confidence to start building her own legacy and go toe to toe with her husband. Her and Dallas become true partners.
This couple experienced a number of highs and lows, and so I found this to be a very emotional read. I would definitely recommend checking for content warnings - particularly for miscarriage and child abuse. Thank goodness we know that we’re guaranteed a happily ever after in romance!
The miscommunication went on a little too long for my liking, but this didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the book overall - and I’m now looking forward to reading the third instalment in the series, Texas Splendor.
