Recs if you like The Surviving Sky...

Basically, a huge list of every book I ever heard features sapphic characters.

I have not read all of these, so I cannot be sure of the amount of the time on page of the sapphic characters or of the quality of the books.

Some of these I do not plan to read at all, since they are not my style. If you feel like a book doesn't belong here, let me know.

For my favs / read, check out my other lists & shelves.

Open to suggestions for more titles.

Don't shoot the messenger.

SFF featuring second worlds and storytelling that reflect and engage with hopes, anxieties, and imaginations about human activity and its influence on the environment + environmental justice. Always open to suggestions! (Note that I am using “second world” very loosely here, to mean both traditional second worlds and/or versions of Earth or parts of Earth that are so distant/strange as to be unrecognizable)

A woman's place is in the revolution. Featuring magical/gifted women who disobey the powers that be and rage against the machine.

This is a collection of queer books written by bipoc authors that fall into the genre of fantasy and/or sci-fi (supernatural horror is also included)

(If a book is part of a series I only put the first book because otherwise it gets messy very quickly)

Recommendations are always welcome!!!

All genres of Fantasy written by South Asian authors specifically.

Indian or Indian-inspired fantasy books by authors of Indian origin, set in either India or abroad.

📣 Magic is obviously more than vibes, now come on folks! Magic...is... revolution! These books blend fantasy with anti-colonial rage, class struggle, empire critique, and hard-won resistance. Think spellcasting AND strategy meetings. No chosen ones (for the most part), just complicated power. For readers who want their magic systems dense and their politics louder than the dragons.

Sci-fi, Fantasy, and some Horror (not all) where fungal and botanical contagion threatens our protagonists with ominous powers or foreboding new changes. (More than botanical horror.)

fantasy books written by south asian authors, featuring south asian characters

Science fiction and fantasy from women shaping the genre right now; bold worlds, ambitious storytelling, and some of the most exciting voices in modern SFF.

Who says you have to chose between sci-fi and fantasy? This list contains books that blend these two genres in unique and creative ways. Wizards in space, aliens in medieval settings, magic and technology working in harmony.
