The journey home begins. Out of the bunker for the first time in five years, Ryan and his companions begin the long and perilous journey home through a country that has begun to crumble and decay. While most of the zombies had since died out, there are still plenty of dangers to be faced, while making new allies and enemies alike. Lily has problems of her own as she deals with the constant threat of the Dead and their insane leader, Sebastian. She has to reconnect with the scattered survivor communities, forging alliances that will allow her to help bring a new hope to the world. All the while, still reeling from the loss of the man she loved and desire to move on with her life in an attempt to find some happiness.
