Loved this one just as much as the first book and I’m officially even more obsessed with Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei <3
The story was so interesting and it was nice to learn more about the Gods and the artifacts and what their purpose is. The explanations could get confusing at times, but I feel like this is a story where you don’t really need to understand every single thing in order to get the big picture, if that makes sense? They do repeat the same terms and stories very often to be able understand quite a bit, but it’s easy to understand what’s going on without needing to understand every single detail. Even Guo Changcheng was confused at some explanations, which was pretty funny and it makes it feel like it’s also ok to be a little confused.
Something that I loved about this danmei is that this is one of those stories where you’re casually reading and enjoying the plot and then they’ll drop like a major plot twist or a very important information about a character or event (the amount of times I gasped was insane), and it makes you start seeing the story in a completely different way and it almost makes you want to read the whole book again so that you'll see some events or actions in a different way.
Spoiler about the last chapter:
I thought this book was going to be more focused on Zhao Yunlan’s past, specially learning who he was, how him and Shen Wei knew each other and how he lost his memories, and while we did learn about him throughout the book (like that he was a God and what was his name), we basically got the whole story of the past dumped on the last chapter, and I’m not sure how I feel about that. It was nice to get a run down of everything that happened, but idk if I would’ve preferred if it had been slowly told along the main plot of the book. And again, because it was basically a dump of information, it did get a little confusing.
Anyways, can’t wait to get the last book and find out how the story ends!!!
