Recs if you like People Love Dead Jews: Reports from a Haunted Present...

So that one user can't complain 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ (Note: I am Jewish. I also haven't read all of these books so if there are innacuracies or questionable content pls lmk)

Academic and non-academic non-fiction by Jewish authors about Jewish topics, with an emphasis on content outside the US, about non-Ashkenazi minhagim, Jews of colour, and historical subjects other than the Shoah. A few books may have non-Jewish co-authors or authors, but I'll try to limit them as much as possible.

The (now defunct) podcast titled Keeping It 101: A Killjoy's Introduction to Religion offered an academic, intersectional look at religions around the world. They often included homework in their episodes to expand upon what they discussed. This list compiles all of the books they suggest.

Shout-out to Dr Megan Goodwin and Dr Ilyse Morgenstein Fuerst, hosts of the podcast. Thanks for teaching us things for free.

A collection of books exploring Jewish history, identity, and resilience in today’s world.
