Recs if you like First Test...

JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

As a tall-ish girl myself, every time I come across an FMC who is described as tiny, I yearn a bit more for some tall FMC representation — we can be love interests too! 🥹😍 So I made this list of (mostly romance and fantasy) books with a tall FMC. Whether she is taller than her partner, or they are somehow EVEN TALLER than her, all is welcome here 🫶

I haven’t read every single book on this list, so please correct me if I am wrong somewhere. More book recs super appreciated!!! 🤍

Books that highlight hope, empathy, and justice. I will take suggestions if anyone has any!

a list of books with ace rep. i have read some of these but not all, so if any of these don't have ace rep or have harmful rep pls do let me know! 🖤🩶🤍💜

Books with Éowyn-type characters; women with an inclination to the martial or glorious but who are often frustrated or blocked in, or mocked for, their ambitions. ("A cage," [Éowyn] said. "To stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of doing great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire.”)

A collection of books across different genres (mostly historical fiction/ YA and fantasy) with Lady Knights ⚔️ Most books have queer main or side characters 🏳️‍🌈 I'm constantly editing this list so please feel free to share recs in the comments! 🌟 (I haven't read all of the books on this list yet)

The first full week after Valentine's Day every year is Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week! Here are our recs for books staring aromantic characters! (This list is presented by Duck Prints Press, the indie publisher focused on publishing queer art and stories by queer creators! A group of us collaborate to make these recommendations.)

Old school fantasy, middle grade/YA, sometimes sapphic, low spice. Inspired by @sadgrrrl

Actively looking for recommendations!

Books where the main character is just that stubborn

YA and adult sci-fi/fantasy. Comment with suggestions!

Books that embody this song. And ideally will break your heart. Comment a book that you think should go on this list!

Edit: y'all why can I only find the spanish version of wild reverence while searching for it for this list???

Lady knights are great but they make you think historical and European. I’ll take woman warriors in just about any setting (but I might group gunslingers and brawlers separately for my own idiosyncratic purposes). Be warned the woman warrior might be a side character, but I promise they’ll have a significant role.

Though there's plenty of names here that you'll recognize! I enjoyed plenty of these as a kid and wanted to share them, especially since most of these authors have other books that get more attention. Plus, books by smaller authors. How many did you read?

Each set of 2-4 books follows a particular character with appearances of familiar faces from other books, but these series don't have to be read in order of publication to be enjoyed. Highly recommend First Test or Terrier as fun starting points!

Tamora Pierce's Tortall series, and associated works. Let's explore all the land has to offer. All books in English, where possible graphic novels are included. Includes: Beka's quartet, Alanna's Lioness quartet, Daine's Immortals quartet, Kel's Protector of the Small quartet, Numair's books (still in progress), Aly's Trickster duology and short stories.

knights, magic, and classic fantasy feels

One of the most underrated authors I’ve ever read.

Joining my younger self on a reread of all the books I was exceptionally obsessed with in elementary, middle, and high school to reread this year between heavier books (some of the series are very long so I’m only including first in a series)

I love YA. It can suck pretty bad when the books try to copy each other. But when some of those gems pop up...wowza! Who knew you could tell such a hard-hitting story without having to resort to 1,000 pages & sex?
