Medicine Man

Medicine Man

Saffron A. Kent

Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Willow Taylor lives in a castle with large walls and iron fences. But this is no ordinary castle. It’s called Heartstone Psychiatric hospital and it houses forty other patients. It has nurses with mean faces and techs with permanent frowns. It has a man, as well. A man who is cold and distant. Whose voice drips with authority. And whose piercing gray eyes hide secrets, and maybe linger on her face a second too long. Willow isn’t supposed to look deep into those eyes. She isn’t supposed to try to read his tightly leashed emotions. And neither is she supposed to touch herself at night, imagining his powerful voice and that cold but beautiful face. No, Willow Taylor shouldn’t be attracted to Simon Blackwood, at all. Because she’s a patient and he’s her doctor. Her psychiatrist. The medicine man. WARNING: This book discusses sensitive issues including but not limited to, depression and suicide. Listening Length: 12 hrs and 30 mins

Don’t worry, there will be no spoilers in this review!

Let me just start by saying.... WOW. Every time I read a book from Kent, I’m left the say way. Speechless. This book along with The Unrequited have become my favorite books of all time.

It is hard to not fall in love with the characters and feel what they’re feeling throughout their journey. I felt Willow’s and Simon’s happiness, sadness, heartbreak, frustration, EVERYTHING. My heart ached in some chapters and I had tears falling, which means the author did a great job portraying their emotions. So great that you feel them yourself. You’re there with them, witnessing their story.

I mean it when I say I could not put this book down as soon as I started it. It had me hooked from the beginning. If you are considering reading it but are not too sure yet, DO IT! You will not regret it. Willow and Simon’s story is one that will make you FEEL absolutely everything and you will fall in love with them. Every character in this story is love worthy. Please give it a read!
