There is so much going on in this book, I'm surprised it wasn't 400 pages longer! That doesn't mean it's not a great story though. Matthew and Maya feel connected from the first time that they meet. But they can only be friends because of circumstances regarding them and their families. Of course, Maya is really in love with Mattie but she will take what she can get so she agrees to just being best friends. Some time later, she rescues him from a plane crash during a tropical storm and he clings to her as the only thing that he understands as he tries to process the trauma of the accident. He realizes that he loves her, but it may be too late.
I loved how this book concluded and would recommend it to anyone who really likes the angst before getting the happily ever after.
