Vanya is the most important soldier in the regiment. Not because she is a great fighter or a master strategist. Vanya is a Dragon Rider. Vanya and her dragon lived together, rode together, and fought together. Only women can tame dragons because only women can connect with the beasts on an instinctive level; by mating with them, the women gain control over the dragon. But when Vanya’s commander orders her into the sky, she enters a world where her dragon is in control. The dragon plucks Vanya from her saddle, intent on teaching her who rules the skies.
