I really want to like this series, but there are so many things about it that irk me (but would probably be overlooked by the kids it's actually aimed for). Like how every car/plane/etc is named by make and model, or how the villains are made up of a male and female, and the male just HAS to monologue because Alex is about to die and why not?

Alex is at least likeable, for being as epic a Mary Sue he is. Even the people who hate him at first end up eventually liking him because he saves their asses or does something heroic.

I'd recommend this for the YA set, but unlike some YA fic out there, it's just not meant for adults.
