This is pretty much a continuation of the first story. Nathan continues to try to fix the mess that he made. He brought his brother Ed back to the real world, but the thing is that Ed wants to return to his home. Though it seems like a sad dreary life being chased by these alien hybrid things, Ed has found some sort of beauty and hope in it. He also, had a foolish idea of sending more people there which made me roll my eyes. Anyways, he worked together with Nathan to steal Nathan’s device back from the government with a little help from Heather, Nathan girlfriend. They seem to fix everything. Things seem to be okay.
However, the aliens are now kidnapping and experimenting on people and at the end of the story. Now I wonder if these things can shape shift into people or something like that. That would be weird. I’m looking forward to the third trade release.
I was underwhelmed with this volume. I wasn’t expecting things to get “wrapped up” so quickly and I suppose that just kind of killed the fun for me. I got annoyed with Nathan and his brother constantly fighting over who gets to make choices for everyone else. And it just had a slow boring burn to it. The one thing that pulled me into picking up volume 2, which was the end of volume 1, didn’t get touched upon until the end again and then it ended. I’m not sure I want to pick up volume 3 now, it might do the same thing again and I’m not here for that.
