Again, not my favorite of the series. But I did like it slightly better than the last book.

In this book, the final of the Stone Brothers meets his match. Kyle is a about to be a doctor, and while on his ER rotation, he meets a young pregnant woman, Elizabeth. Elizabeth needs to be hospitalized for the duration of her pregnancy and Kyle is assigned her doctor. The two bond and start to fall for each other. But when Elizabeth finds out Kyle has paid for her entire hospital stay, she's spooked and takes off with the baby.

Six months later, she shows back up in Kyle's life. He now knows her real name (Lexi) and her story (abusive husband) and invites her into his home, but not into his heart. He doesn't want to risk the hurt. Not to mention she refuses to let her husband know where she and the baby are out of fear and Kyle doesn't want to settle. So they're kind of at an impasse. Lexi wants Kyle. Kyle wants Lexi. But he's afraid to let her in.

The two eventually decide to make it work, of course. But it takes a lot of persistence on Lexi's part. Maybe too much. Kyle is such a good guy and I understand his impatience. But at the same time, he's dealing with an abused, traumatized woman with a new baby who has a physical disability. Maybe he should give her some time to work through some things.
