Recs if you like The Nightland Express...

Westerns with a fantastical spin to them- whether it be monsters, magic or supernatural elements. If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments!

I need to do research for a story I'm writing, so I'm collecting the relevant books I find here :) I will feature a range of fiction and non-fiction books about the real history and the fun imaginary worlds of queer western books. Suggestions always welcome!

p.s. there may be non-queer westerns or history of that era that make their way on here for research sake, but the goal is ultimately to bring more gay cowboys (gender neutral) into the world

Obviously, these can be read whenever but feel as a Would-Be Librarian, wanted to make my recs known! Will be including translated materials too. Enjoy!

Fiction books set in Missouri. Also may include Missouri Mentions. Recommendations welcome!

these are the books i'm thinking about & planning to read as i write my revisionist western <3
