Recs if you like Slasher Summer...

A genre-inclusive and diverse list of horror releases coming in 2026. If I missed any or you have suggestions, please let me know. I will update periodically as new books are announced and release dates are solidified.

Source for a lot of the data for this list came from readjumpscares.com, which is a website you should absolutely check out. I’m sure data will come from other places along the way, as well.

Spooky summer fun for all ages, from cute picture books with spooky elements, to creepy middle grade graphic novels, to teen + YA thrills, to adult-level gore and a sprinkling of erotic horror/dark romance. Books on this list have a heavy summer theme, either highlighting the season or taking place in settings like summer camps, fairgrounds, beaches, or water parks, and have some sort of creepy or scary element to them.

all things summer and horror from slashers to summer camp and your favorite local faire.

It's super hot outside and you're in the mood for summer slasher books and/or a lowkey mysterious fall vibe just like in the Gravity Falls summerween episode? Then this list is for YOU. 🙂‍↕️ Feel free to comment your own recs, I'll add those. 🫶🏻

Bright sun, bad decisions, and something already in the woods.

Skin burning. Air too heavy. Summer lasting too long. ☀️

Beach houses with doors that jam. Rentals that were always a red flag. Footsteps that don't match anyone inside. Slasher chaos, slow dread, or almost playful, until it's not.

Your summerween you're looking for is here, welcome 🎃🔪🥂

Collection of slasher books!

Some will involve the supernatural, some are from the POV of survivors and others from the killer

💀 Think: summer camp slashers, cults, sweaty obsession, monster boyfriends, demon bargains, serial-killer romance, haunted lust, cursed vacations, blood under porch lights.

🧡 These recommendations range from zero romance and spice to scorching summerween smut.

🔞 Big warning label: a lot of these are very adult, dark, taboo, kinky, violent, or horror-heavy. Definitely check trigger warnings before diving in.

horror novels published in canada with a particular emphasis on Indigenous authors and indie press publications! I'm currently in a publishing program learning about how in danger the canadian publishing industry is and how rarely book reading in canada actually highlights our own authors so one could say this list is a cope and an attempt to add that to ways i'm diversifying my reading. obv disclaimer that canada is. yikes. but this is in the context of mainly american books being platformed

Slasher - a subgenre of horror involving a killer or a group of killers stalking and murdering a group of people, often by use of bladed or sharp tools.

This is a big list of (almost) all slasher books (only first books in a series). As long as there is a killer(s), victims and blood, it counts!

Summerween recs

Slasher Season, for me, runs from the beginning of Summer— when it’s just warm enough for a dip in the lake— through Fall, when the leaves turn brown again. If roasting marshmallows around a campfire is in season, so is reading about masked psychos terrorizing people. ❤️💀 (I’m sure this list will remain under construction for a while as I discover more to read and add)
