Life in the outer realm is a lawless, dirty, hard existence, and Solara Brooks is hungry for it. Just out of the orphanage, she needs a fresh start in a place where nobody cares about the engine grease beneath her fingernails or the felony tattoos across her knuckles. She's so desperate to reach the realm that she's willing to indenture herself to Doran Spaulding, the rich and popular quarterback who made her life miserable all through high school, in exchange for passage aboard the spaceliner Zenith. When a twist of fate lands them instead on the Banshee, a vessel of dubious repute, Doran learns he's been framed on Earth for conspiracy. As he pursues a set of mysterious coordinates rumored to hold the key to clearing his name, he and Solara must get past their enmity to work together and evade those out for their arrest. Life on the Banshee may be tumultuous, but as Solara and Doran are forced to question everything they once believed about their world—and each other—the ship becomes home, and the eccentric crew family. But what Solara and Doran discover on the mysterious Planet X has the power to not only alter their lives, but the existence of everyone in the universe...

This was a really fun sci-fi, space adventure book. People who start off hating each other, kleptomaniacs, space pirates... all fun things. There were tons of funny situations and humorous lines. It was definitely a fun book.

Something I particularly loved about the relationship between the main characters was how equal it was. I feel like too often when an author tries to have a strong female main character, they go too far. They try too hard to have it be the girl always saving the guy or she so adamantly refuses help from anyone, especially the guy.

What I liked about this was that yeah, sometimes Doran saved Solara. But sometimes Solara saved Doran. Most importantly, sometimes they had to save themselves. I liked this because it shows that you can still be strong and awesome and get help, especially as a female. Accepting help from someone, especially a guy, does not make you a damsel in distress.

I think the thing I didn't love about it was the fact that the danger never lasted very long. It seemed they'd get themselves in trouble, and by the next chapter, they'd be out of it. After coming off series like the Ascendance Trilogy and How to Train Your Dragon where our hero was in peril for 12 chapters at a time and it always left me wondering how the hell he was going to get out of it this time, everything in this book seemed a little easy. I was never at the edge of my seat because I just kept thinking, "Well, it took them three pages to get out of danger last time, I'm sure they'll be fine." And they always were.

Overall, it was a fun read, and I'd recommend it. I liked the side characters, and I'm excited for Starfall and learning more about Kane and Cassia!
