Read the entire set, couldn't devour it fast enough and going back for more...
ENSLAVED IN SHADOWS:
Eden does not waste any time at all in steaming things up in this one. There’s raw, animalistic need and heat, and they’re surrounded by mystery, so it’s intriguing. Before I knew it there was action, angst, murder attempts, ex-girlfriend drama… just a storm of suspense. This novel sucked me in hard and fast.
There’s some great character development, and dynamics between one another. I caught myself laughing out loud a few times, and definitely missed this when I put it down as the action and drama are pretty non-stop.
Didn’t end in a cliffhanger exactly but I absolutely needed to go on to the next in the series.
Could use a round of proofreading but nothing drastic enough that it distracted from the reader experience. Great read, 4 stars.
BURNED IN SHADOWS:
This book has SO MUCH going on! It’s pretty well done though, it manages to not be a clusterf***. I’ll need to absorb every word of this series I possibly can because of all that’s going on and my need for answers, but it doesn’t really leave me hanging either, if that makes sense,
This book picks up shortly after Enslaved In Shadows, which I also completely couldn’t put down. Jes has evolved, we get to see more of Belinda and many other characters we were introduced to in Book 1.
It manages to combine mythology with modern ideas of some of the types of people you find in urban fantasy, and it’s all explained and done in a way that makes perfect sense. It’s completely brilliant and I couldn’t help but stop to appreciate Eden’s skill at times.
I read an ARC, so I cannot comment on editing, proofing or formatting. But content alone, it’s a fun wild ride packed with adventure, scandal, betrayal, fierce love, burning heat, adventure, legend, crime and so much more. Strongly recommend.
4 stars.
I read this right after Book 2, Burned in Shadows and right before Redeemed in Shadows. As someone who cannot get enough of these series and this character, I was grateful to have more to devour.
I also loved the drama and added info provided in this installment and strongly advise against skipping it
In true Shadow Unit fashion, it’s hot, witty, funny at times, nerve-racking, dramatic and action-packed. An amazing, wild ride.
4 stars.
Redeemed in Shadows:
This one is a wild ride. I’m relieved I already read Enslaved, Bonded and Burned so I completely understand what’s going on. Eden gives some background so you wouldn’t be lost coming in on this one but it’s definitely easier.
This is such a rollercoaster for the heart… without sharing spoilers, I’ll say that Eden manages to pull at the heartstrings in different aspects, if that makes sense. Romantic love and familial love are both strong in this series and Eden is a sadistic puppetmaster in regards to both.
We’re treated to new characters in this installment but all our old favorites (or enemies) are here. It’s still hard to figure out which side a couple of them are playing for which keeps it fun and hard to predict. As someone who predicts everything, I’m honestly too busy taking in all that’s going on here.
You might even find yourself feeling bad for demons and other evil creatures too, or relating to things you didn’t expect. Despite all of the action, drama, fighting, etc., this book can make you think too.
I cannot say enough about this series. I never want to leave it and recommend it to everyone.
4 stars.
