Did I almost DNF this in the first 4 pages? Mhm. Did almost DNF again at 23% Mhm. But did I DNF? No, I did not but I kind of wish I would have because I just really didn’t have a fun time. I was bamboozled. I thought I was getting some primal play-type kinks, ya know with chasing… and while that was in there… sorta.. it did not live up to what I wanted.

First of all the timeline is janky. We go back in forth in timelines, from 4 years ago, back to 2, then back to 4. It was confusing. At one point it even said 4 years ago and 2 of the guys were going to check on Stella and then it switches to 2 years later but continues the same scene?? I don’t even know if the author knew what timeline she wanted because the story also wasn’t consistent on when the guys met Stella. Stella states that the guys were seniors when she was a freshman and that during her senior year she walked into the locker room and saw them beating up someone. Later from the guy's perspective, one of them says that they didn’t know that she saw them beating someone up their senior year, which doesn’t make sense because she had previously said it was her senior year, not theirs. They also said that they became obsessed with her that day which again does not make sense because they had just stated that they didn’t know she was there.

Thinking about what made me want to DNF in the first couple pages, they literally cut someone's dick off. Now, I’ve read a lot of dark romance books so this isn’t that unusual. What was unusual was that the only response from the guy was just yelling “what the fuck,” like come on now. I’ve read enough of these scenes and can imagine the pain enough to know that he should have something more to say than just that. Like you would not be having a conversation, you’d be screaming and whatnot. What a scene for me to get picky about but it threw me when I read it.

Now something else that really threw me was the scene after the guys chased her and the one starts to feel her up. Ya know what happens next? I bet you don’t. HE PULLED HER TAMPON OUT. SIR. I about stopped the book right then and there because what the hell. In no way would I ever find this attractive and I’m supposed to believe Stella finds this hot??? No. I can’t believe I didn’t see one review mention this. I physically cannot.

Honestly any of the smut scenes after this did absolutely nothing for me because I was so perplexed by that tampon scene. The scenes were honestly half confusing anyway and I didn’t know what position they were in anyway. Just because you can add 22 kinks into the book, doesn’t mean you should.

Anyways, I never bought into the relationships between the four of them and didn’t get why they liked her and vice versa. Had this been flushed out… like a lot… I think it could’ve been decent because the bones of the story were there but everything felt rushed and not thought through enough.
