Recs if you like The Secret Country (The Secret Country, #1)...

Portal fantasy (middle grade through adult lit with maybe some sci-fi too).

Because sometimes you just want to read about characters literally escaping their world or temporarily exploring other ones since you’re stuck here.

(Please note: series will only contain the earliest applicable volume even if more/all are the same to avoid clutter. Also, open to recs!)

A collection of older, sometimes lesser-known, fantasy (or science fantasy) books written by incredible women and published primarily between the 1980s and early 2000s (with nods to a few older ones). In a time when female fantasy authors were few and far between, these authors carved out their own space in the genre. These stories might not be mainstream hits today, but they are full of brilliant magic, deep characters, and/or worlds that helped shape the genre. (First in Series / standalones only for now - open to suggestions!)

Welcome - these are the niche, strange, or interesting books I find donated to my little free library. Please, comment if you end up saving or reading any of these. I want to know!
