Recs if you like The Rainbow Fish...

Here you’ll find a multitude of children’s books featured in the 1998 film You’ve Got Mail, which, if you’re unfamiliar, heavily features a children’s bookstore called The Shop Around the Corner. Nothing brings me joy quite like children’s literature and 90s nostalgia, so I have painstakingly studied the shelves featured in the film to bring this list to life. I hope that at least one book here unlocks a nostalgic memory for you, or at least conjures a smile of recognition.

The book girlies are seeing their favourite characters on screen this year so if you didn’t know or want to be ahead of the game and prep, this list is here. This list includes tv adaptations and movies so if you’re curious make sure to see if it’s streaming or theatre release.

P.s. I’m including books whose adaptations already came out this year so far

Books with shiny iridescent covers, because your shelf needs some sparkle. Sometimes also called "rainbow foil" or "holographic".

⚠️ You may need to check alternate covers since I can't set specific editions to display in the list (yet)!

If you know of an edition that has shiny bits that change colour in light, drop it in the comments!

I learned to read between 1995 (birth) and 2000, and these are the books that taught me how. As some of my peers raise their kids, I find us all returning to the first titles we remember reading to share with them and ignite their passion, and I think that's beautiful tbh.

P.S. My mom helped me make this list. 🫶🏼

I've been addicted to watching Smosh all summer, here is a list of the casts and crew's favorite books from the Shayne Guesses video ;p I haven't read like... any of these.

So many childhood books, so little time, feel free to comment suggestions
