She’s broken-hearted. He’s just broken. When they become temporary neighbors, will they be able to heal together? Mikayla Talbot has been in love with her boss for years, but when she humiliates herself in front of him—and his brand new fiancé—she flees to Haven Bay to lick her wounds. When Mikayla is asked to check on her new neighbor, she has no idea he’s Anderson Gray, former Hollywood Heartthrob—nor does she particularly care. He’s grumpy, standoffish, and clearly needs a friend as badly as she does, but he seems determined to push her away. She never expects the feelings that grow between them or how Gray makes her rethink everything. But her confidence has been knocked, and he doesn’t seem to believe he has anything to offer. Can these two cautious hearts risk it all for love?

This is the first book I've read in this series but now I have to go back and get all other books in the series and get caught up. You can totally read this book as a standalone but it was so good, I need to know the rest of the stories!
This book is the story of Gray and Mikayla. At the beginning of the story, Mikayla has a highly embarrassing encounter with her boss. She takes some time off to regain her bearings and get over the embarrassment. She goes to Haven Bay, where her sister is, for some quiet time to think. On her first day there, she meets her reclusive neighbor, but he is rude to her. Mikayla is undaunted, though, and brings him breakfast the next day. Slowly, Mikayla breaks down all of Gray's walls and finds out why it is that he doesn't leave the house. He helps her overcome her embarrassment about the situation with her boss and helps her to see that he has been using her for a long time. Mikayla helps Gray with his agoraphobia and shows him that just because he has mental illness (with good reason) doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with him as a person. Their love story is a slow burn but it is just so beautiful how the two of them come to accept each other. Mikayla may describe herself as a bulldozer, but with Gray she was just the right combination of pushing and back off. When they first discover that they feel the same way about each other, it's just like....ahhhhhh, finally!
I loved being back in Haven Bay and we finally get to know the deeply private and recluse Gray and it is all thanks to Mikayla who doesn't take no for an answer and needs a distraction after coming to Haven Bay to get over the utter mortifying encounter with her boss. I loved how Gray finally gets motivated and ever so slightly nudged in a gentle way to start living again and being out in the open. There are loads of laughs, familiar face and new ones as well as some heartbreak, hopelessness, attraction and love. I can not wait for Destiny Falls to see what happens there!!!!.
