these are books that i think are imperative for a compassionate, empathetic, understanding, proactive healthcare workforce cause they won’t teach you this in school. please suggest more you think should be here!!

Inspired by two recent clubhouse posts by @codingclown and @visisbookbug and my own obsession with the show, The Pitt. Here are a bunch of books that give the same vibe (allegedly). Give me hospital drama, but mostly interesting medical cases and human connection.

Non fiction books about horrific things

The J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize is an annual $10,000 award given to a book that exemplifies, "literary grace, a commitment to serious research and social concern." The prize is given by the Nieman Foundation and by the Columbia University School of Journalism.

Hurricane Katrina made landfall on Monday August 29, 2005, devastating the city of New Orleans, Louisiana as well as much of coastal Mississippi. Damage from the hurricane caused one of the largest mass migrations in American history. This list contains memoirs and investigative journalism about the storm and its subsequent aftermath.

Recommendations from my various college programs, including undergraduate history and anthropology as well as some graduate library sciences courses. All of these books have been recommended by my professors or readings from my professors
