This list is based on the book by Joan Anim-Addo, Deirdre Osborne, and Kadija Sesay (This is the Canon: Decolonize Your Bookshelves in 50 Books)

As the title suggests, the book aims to broaden readers’ horizons. The list contains works by non-white, mostly female authors.

Stories we don’t just read, we recognize. Latinx books that feel like home, memory, family, language, love, loss, and the little rebellions we inherit and create. Books for daughters, mothers, tias, mujeres finding their voice, and anyone who grew up between cultures with cafecito in one hand and big feelings in the other.

A mix of genres thru Latin povs.

This list is like a Lacroix- someone yelled Mexico in the other room while it was canned. Author is Mexican, Book is set in Mexico, maybe Mexico is mentioned often or tangential to the plot, Characters are of Mexican descent, depicts Chicana/Mexican-American experience, Mexico in the title, Author flew over Mexico while writing the book/j etc. As long as the reason it's on here makes sense to me :) but hopefully will be obvious to everyone; adult books only- will put Spanish versions if they are already entered on pagebound
