THE WICKED AFTERMATH is an emotionally gripping story of love, loss, and hope, with a rich and entrancing happily ever after. When the person you blame for your grief is the only one who can save you from the pain... Tank Wicked lost his sister and has since vowed to save everyone else in his path. He lives by the creed of the Dark Knights motorcycle club, sworn to protect and respect his community. He selflessly saves lives as a volunteer firefighter and treats the men and women who work for him at his tattoo shop like family. But life isn’t a balance scale where good deeds negate bad things to come, and one foggy night life guts Tank once again. When a car careens over the side of a bridge and into a river, Tank springs into action, plunging into the water to rescue the passengers. Four people go into the river, but only three come out alive. Leah Yates is just trying to make it through each day. When the man she blames for her grief becomes the only one who can pull her from the depths of despair, she discovers that even hope comes at a price. Maybe this time she won't have to face it alone. Set on the sandy shores of Cape Cod, the Wickeds feature fiercely protective heroes, strong heroines, and unbreakable family bonds. If you think bikers are all the same, you haven't met the Dark Knights. The Dark Knights are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Their members stick together like family and will stop at nothing to keep their communities safe. Some of the Wickeds’ love stories will be hilariously fun and deeply emotional, others will tear at your heartstrings and include injections of humor, but they will all leave you wishing you could climb between the pages and join them. All Wicked novels may be enjoyed as standalone romances. MORE WICKED LOVE STORIES COMING SOON! When it comes to the families in Melissa Foster’s library, I didn’t think I’d ever love a family more than the Whiskeys. The Wicked aren’t quite there yet, but they’re sure giving them a run for their money! There’s something about a tough guy with a mushy center that just gets me.

When it comes to Tank and Leah, regular readers of this author have seen the awkward interactions between the two for a couple of books now. Of course, we all knew Tank wouldn’t hurt a fly no matter how big or imposing he may be. It was obvious that Leah knew no such thing, no matter what others told her. The woman was just downright uncomfortable around the guy and avoided him at all costs. Turns out, it wasn’t so much fear as feelings that had Leah so jumpy. Or at least a combination of the two.

Leah’s story is sad and tragic, but she is one tough cookie. When she wasn’t much more than a child herself she took on the responsibility of raising her brother, then her brother’s kids on top of it when his path veered toward trouble. Now they are all doing well and her brother is turning his life around, his young children look to him as an uncle and Leah as their mom and she doesn’t have time for much else. Family everything to her. Then tragedy strikes and her life falls apart.

Tank, along with his family and friends, are there for Leah in a way she never experienced before. She doesn’t know how to react to having so much support. Not just in helping with the kids and the day to day needs of her family, but emotionally as well. She’s never experienced having girlfriends to relax and laugh with, a partner to lean on in all things, a mother to go to for advice. While it’s comforting for Leah, it’s also scary. She knows more than most how easily good things can be snatched away.

I guess Leah was right to be scared of Tank, because once she lets him into her life there is no getting rid of him. I don’t mean that in a bad way. He is just very devoted and steadfast. In fact, when Leah is feeling overwhelmed, he graciously leaves her in peace so she can have time alone. Those first few days after her world is turned upside down, Tank is just so swoony I thought my heart would burst.

This couple, this family, are absolutely enchanting. I’m so happy we’ll get to visit them over and over in the world of Melissa Foster.

This is one of those stories while you are going through it, you are crying and cursing the whole way through, but when you get to the end, it's like. whew, that was a ride, but I'm glad I did it! The Wicked Aftermath is first and foremost a story about love and loving. If a person doesn't love, then it doesn't hurt when there is loss. The grief the two main characters in this story carry is almost a physical thing. Tank and Leah mourn different losses, but they also learn that when life kicks you when you are down, you have to look for the sunshine too. They both learn in the other that love will sometimes break your heart, but it also gives you what heals your heart when it is broken. I don't want to say too much more and spoil the story for you, but I know that this story will stay with me for a good while and I can't wait to read more about the Wicked family and the Dark Knights at Bayside.
