Noah, Jack, and Phil are three average guys who collect horror memorabilia and have a running competition to see who can come up with the most extreme or repulsive horror movie for their weekly guys’ night. When one of the friends gets the opportunity to steal tickets to an exclusive club that touts offering a realistic, immersive torture simulation, he jumps on the opportunity. Once they arrive at the theater they quickly realize that it isn't a simulation at all, and they have delved into an underground world that they don’t belong in. They have to uphold their stolen identities while trying to escape and not die (or kill anyone else) in the process.

oh i love when assholes get what they deserve. ok first of all, like all the trigger warnings. gory and uncomfy. this is my second megan stockton read and it’s clear she is a fabulous writer that sets a hell of a scene. the plot is a classic “in over their heads” set up, proves this is alwys a good premise but nothing unique (which isn’t a bad thing). not a single character is likeable (except maybe the dogs), the design of a few are quite good. i don’t jive with some of the horror themes here and i wish EVERYONE got their just desserts but overall a solid story!
Ok... I needed a little palette cleanser in between my psychological horror books and this was perfect. I had a favorite character from the beginning and he got better and better throughout the book. This good was just what I needed. Trigger warnings for violence, assault, grape0. and all of the things.
