Recs if you like The Field Guide...

JK Rowling is a bigot who uses her platform to hurt transfolks and other marginalized groups (plus she literally just quoted Mein Kampf on the bird site). If you're still supporting her in 2025, don't bother talking to me.

Books of the millennial reader's childhood (not just scholastic book fair). Sticking with chapter books, and not picture books :) All books pre-2005 Taking recs!

It includes novels that would appeal to potentially new readers;

All fiction books that appear in the Tiny Bookshop catalogue! Would sort them by genre as I read along.

Teacups rattle & spin when the main character is frustrated. There's sentient plants growing where they shouldn't be. The MC probably has a grouchy familiar. Each room looks like Howl's bedroom of trinkets. Fantasy for all ages that prioritizes my favorite element to read: whimsy✨ Suggestions welcome!

Who TF needs JKR anymore? We got way better books out there dude

These middle grade series may not have seven movies, a TV show, and a literal theme park dedicated to them, but they sure deserve it! Especially because they weren't written by JKR. All recommended by Pagebound users, and suggestions are always always welcome -- middle grade fantasy/mystery series-starters only, please! Let's foster a love of reading in kids without supporting bigotry and hatred.

From scary and malevolent to even tempered, Beautiful and enchanting to sharp and dishonest, All kinds of fairies from real folklore stories. Pixies, sprites, fairies, and elves All and more is here from the start to the end. (Under construction🏗🚧)

I work at a bookstore and sometimes I bring people into the middle grade/ya section and am like...hey...I know we are above the age of 13, but trust me, these are amazing 10/10 and you should read. These are some of those books :)

Also feel free to suggest your favs too! Especially the ones that you never hear anyone talk about!!

Books that make me miss the woods-or make me feel trapped by it. Suggestions welcome!

Joining my younger self on a reread of all the books I was exceptionally obsessed with in elementary, middle, and high school to reread this year between heavier books (some of the series are very long so I’m only including first in a series)

cozy fantasy and slice of life stories for fall

Sometimes present day is too heavy, let’s take a trip back in time.

So many childhood books, so little time, feel free to comment suggestions

You’re never too old to enjoy a good ol’ children’s fantasy book. My #1 move is to read children’s fantasy when in a reading slump 🫶 (Many of these are a series, I only list the first in each series)

Books that probably turned you into a reader if you’re in your mid-20s now 👀

Books to give your siblings kids if you are the radical gay (aunt, uncle, or preferred ungendered term here) ‘parent’s-sibling’ and dont want to scare off their conservative or religious parents.
