Jack Kingston is new to the Titans, but certainly not new to the game of hockey. So when he's at the rink getting in some extra practice time and notices a peewee hockey coach struggling, he can't help but offer his expertise. The fact that she's gorgeous is just an added bonus. Will she be open to his offer to assist or will she skate circles around this hockey hunk's heart?

While I loved this book, it also felt a bit off from what I’m used to with this author. If I wasn’t so familiar with Sawyer Bennett’s work, I would just say I loved it and call it a day. I wouldn’t notice any problems. But I feel I have to express what my thoughts were while I was reading this story and that is what I was thinking.
As I said, I still loved this story. King and Willa are fantastic together. King is amazing. He is patient, kind, sexy, understanding, and great with kids. Not to mention his movie star good looks and killer body. King is the whole package. So much so that he gets teased by his teammates about all the women constantly hitting on him, many times without him even noticing. Unlike a lot of the other young hockey players, he is not looking for quick hook-ups. He has always been the type to enjoy being in a committed relationship. This scares the crap out of Willa as they get to know each other.
Willa grew up in an abusive household, yet somehow ended up married to a verbally and emotionally abusive man. She doesn’t trust her instincts any longer. So though her instincts are drawing her to King, she keeps pushing against that pull.
With both Willa’s abusive ex and King’s ex who had been his childhood sweetheart popping their heads up at different times in this book, you know one or both of them are going to cause trouble for this couple. I didn’t trust anyone! When things come to a head, Willa has to take a good look at herself and King and decide what she is willing to risk. King has to dig deep for the patience he seemed to have in spades but is now running low on.
It’s funny that some of the things that I love about this book are also things I think had this story not flowing how I had expected. We get a lot of sweet updates on past couples. It’s all done organically and I love to see Van so happy in his life. Some new things are happening for Brienne and Drake that will most likely spawn a new series from this author in the future. Maybe it was my headspace when I read this book because I really do love these updates and expansions of the universe when they are done correctly, and they were done correctly. Regardless, I’m as eager as usual for the next story to be told.
