Hi!! Here to recommend Jeanette Winterson! Haven't read it yet but Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit is her semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story of growing up as a lesbian. Meanwhile The Passion (which I love) has gender-bending and representation of bisexuality. Both books are critically acclaimed so they definitely fit the literary criteria.
