I find it really interesting where the author chose to put breaks in the page/paragraphs. They don’t seem to make any sense. I’m wondering what the significance is. For instance, there’s a moment where Alice is asking a young cleaning girl whether she heard the phone ring earlier. Then,

”No, ma’am,” says the girl. “I was out the back, putting the laundry on the line.”

Then a break in the page and continues with what Alice does next. The breaks seem so random to me. Maybe I’m getting distracted lol. Am I supposed to be piecing anything together right now because I’m not
