- I forgot if it's explained in the novel, but Lan Wangji wouldn't have known what character A-Yuan's name was when he took him in, so he gave him a homophonous character.
- 思追 sizhui
- derived from a couplet written by the author MXTX herself: 思君不可追，念君何时归？/ I long for you but cannot chase after you; I yearn for you, when will you return?
Wen Yuan 温苑
