i was going to make a post at the end of chapter 21, as i found it interesting how Louis assumed all of his sexual encounters with women were "good" because he "made them orgasm", but firstly who is he to know which of these women were actually enjoying themselves, or just putting on a show to get it over with? he was their boss, it was work, not a good ol' fun time in bed with someone you CHOSE to do so with. who is to say they weren't pretending to orgasm in the hopes that he'd also finish quicker, since that seems to be his biggest "accomplishment"— supposedly pleasing women (yeah, right).
but at the end of chapter 23 after Marie's assault, it seems like she's come to a similar conclusion as i have and i feel for her. "Before, she had considered all the women coming out of her father's room to have been engaged in consensual behavior. ... Now she had a dream of crowds of naked women trying to get out of her father's room." there's a lot of lesson learning throughout all this tragedy.
