The detective just very clearly implied that they don’t in fact think Ben is a suspect. So this whole plot seems to have just evolved from Ben’s anxiety & guilt. He seems to be the only one convinced he’s a suspect. I was skeptical when it was initially revealed that Clive died in Ben’s arms & Ezra was there as witness. But now that the detective has confirmed there’s really no further connection or interest in Ben, the impetus of the plot just feels really flimsy.
