hi folks!

checking in (a couple of days late) to our unofficial readalong for we have always lived in the castle! i’ve just finished reading one of jackson’s other novels, the sundial, which has instantly made its way to my all-time favourites list. i can’t wait to dive into we have always lived in the castle!

so, how’s this going to work? i, like many of you, am a pretty busy person! so, i want to make this readalong as easy to participate in/navigate as possible. i’m going to invite anyone and everyone to join in reading we have always lived in the castle during the readalong dates (running until the end of november) - i.e. there will be no specific dates to have completed specific chapters by. throughout the duration of the readalong, i’ll be posting sporadic check-ins inviting conversation, and towards the end of the readalong, i’ll post a ‘spoilers allowed’ thread for us to chat about the plot in more detail.

if you’re going to be joining the readalong, i suggest commenting on this thread so that it’s easier for everyone to find people who are partaking!

a couple other questions to kick off the conversation:

1. if you’ve already started the book, how are you liking it so far (without spoilers)?

2. have you read any shirley jackson before, or will this be your introduction to her work?

3. do you have any predictions about the book/your enjoyment of it going in?
