We all run across a negative review of one of our all-time favorite books at some point, I think, and after chatting with my spouse about it this morning, I'm curious what other users think about this.
I've made it something of a goal lately to engage with folx who don't enjoy all of the same things in the same way I do. My initial response is and always has been to be defensive (and family is largely to blame for that), but because I enjoy critical discussions about literature, I've found myself wanting to engage more with others and make a real effort to hear their thoughts whether I agree or don't. On the other hand: My spouse just gets frustrated with people who don't agree with their opinions of literature, so they just avoid engaging for the most part.
What do you think? Do y'all enjoy chatting with people who disagree with your feelings about what you've read? ☕
