hey folks! random question of the day that just popped into my head. have you ever had experiences with an author while reading one or two books of theirs, and wanting to connect with their work so so much more than you actually did? like books you were so hyped for because of people acclaiming them but then finding your experience wasn't as exciting?
for me, that author is unfortunately rivers solomon. i deeply understand why rivers' work so deeply connects with people, especially within the black community, but for the two books i've read from him so far, i very much struggled to connect to the characters within and the literary writing; which is a shame because i've heard so much praise and thus i was so excited to finally get into the literature. right now i'm reading model home and it's a struggle for sure :/ but i've heard it gets better near the end so i'm holding out hope.
