Finally dragged my feet enough to finish this one. Great ending. And man was it LENGTHY. Would take a while for me to get to the next trilogy for Dukes though. It's a LOT to read. But I'm glad I managed to finish it at least.

A good book. Sometimes it is superficial. Like almost too cleanly arranged. But it was a good book.

What's your thoughts on DNF'ing an ARC??
I don't want to because I was so excited for it. The marketing on TikTok was so good and yes I read the blurb and it sounded like something I'd LOVE.
Now that I have it and I started it though.... I'm SO bored. Things are moving SO slow and I feel like I'm going into a reading slump but I can't afford that because I also have 3 more ARCs that I'm actually enjoying...
I've never DNF'd an ARC because of guilt but I don't think I can handle this one...
Any advice?? If I do DNF I'm not going to leave a star rating (or a review on socials).

I write in my books constantly, and I think everyone should. It is so fun to reread a book and see what you from X number of years ago thought reading the same passage. Why do you annotate?

What are your most stunning books? What's your favorite cover art? I love My Body Unspooling - it's bright and colorful with artwork that is intriguing and I have it placed on an art display when I'm not reading it. I've been collecting more little display stands from thrift stores and I'm curious what other books are display-destined. Edit to add: pretty books that are also good! My Body Unspooling is an amazing book with gorgeous and maybe a little unsettling art. It's a fast read that sits with you.

I did NOT expect to like the writing style of this author so much. Picked it up randomly at a bookstore and flipped it open at a random chapter. Chapter 4. And cue the drama already. Had me HOOKED. Loving it. 40% in one day no less.

Books finished (6):
Favorite: A Short Stay in Hell. Most Entertaining: My Sister, The Serial Killer. Least Liked: Tie between Fahrenheit 451 and The Crumbling of a Nation.
Books that I started reading, but need more brain power for or I am reading them on a screen (2):
I read most of these while I am waiting for my next round of botox to treat my migraines. I do my best to reduce my screen time and do more indoor activities. I have light sensitivity, more pain when I move, and a list of other symptoms that make it so that reading is one of my go to activities during this time. I also crochet when I read.

The ease of reading this book made me look for other books that writes like Emily Henry. Her work and the way she writes her stories are so....smooth. I LOVE it.

by this i mean percentage/page count. i usually really enjoy the beginning, when authors are introducing their characters, conflict, worlds, etc. and then the middle when characters are actually taking the action to resolve said conflict. i always really struggle with the last 100-150 pages (depending on the length of the book) because that is typically when the solution is being reached, everyone's happy (or sad or dead, even) and not much else is going on other than wrapping up the story. i'm wondering if others are struggling the same way? are you struggling with other parts of the story? would love to hear people's thoughts!

Are there any books you've read that you wish you never had?
For me, "The Hunting Wives." Nothing against the author (the writing was fine) but I could not stand that book.
