This was a lovely and lyrical novella that was steeped in folklore and romance. It was tender, and towards the end had me crying like a baby. It's unlike anything I've read before, which made it quite special. It reminded me some of Silver in the Wood, and I definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in reading a short and sweet fae-related romance. It's still in my mind days after finishing it.

This book was incredible from start to finish. It brought me so much, so much genuine out-loud laughter. It was touching, hilarious, endearing, etc. etc, on and on! It was so good. This was my first Pratchett, and it made me angry I'd never read him before. His characters were delightful and deep, and the story itself was very compelling. His writing style and humor begged to be read aloud, and it was hard to put the book down. I kept thinking about how much I would love to read this to my third grade students. I also read this book in the context of a class on hope and folklore, which added a layer of depth because I was prompted to think throughout the novel about how the characters face what seem like insurmountable odds. How Tiffany in particular uses bravery and pragmatism to do the right thing. She reminded me a lot of Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle, and I loved her dearly. 10/10, I do recommend this book. I would definitely read it again.

I'm only two chapters in, and already this book has made me laugh out loud as well as tear up. I've never read Pratchett before (besides Good Omens), but lordy lou. I am already completely invested. His voice is so sharp and funny and touching. Excited to see where this book takes me.

I can't believe I never wrote a proper review for this book, as I did enjoy it a lot, and it was the first book to pull me in enough to finish it this year. It didn't end as strongly as it started for me, but I still liked the characters and romance quite a lot. I think this is a great starter monster romance book for those curious about the genre, especially if you're also a fan of romance reality TV. I'm not in that world, so that element of the novel didn't actually resonate with me, but I think that also speaks to the charm of the characters and their story itself, that I was engaged regardless of the reality TV angle.

This book is delightful. It's not what I expected in the best possible way. The characters are well-developed, and I love their chemistry. The premise is also quite fun, in my opinion, and I'm just having a grand time. One of the things I'm appreciating as well is that there's a more developed plot in this than I anticipated. This means the book is not exactly the quick romp I expected, but it also means things get to really grow and change in their own time. I'm excited to see where the next 50% of the story takes me. If it keeps up this quality, I can see this being a book I recommend frequently.
