was a fun and easy-to-understand read! highly recommend for a quick read. the characters are all so sweet and it gave off found family vibes. i also liked how flawed the characters were and how each of them were looking for something, and they all decide to go on the journey together to fulfill their wishes. having said that, it was a little more violent than i had expected, especially for a kids book. there were a few scenes that made me surprised at the level of detail the violence described lol.
i found the scarecrow to be the saddest character because (spoilers!) he kept on putting himself down and calling himself an idiot for having no brains even though he had the smartest ideas to get his friends out of trouble, etc. it just hit a little too close to home, the self-depreciating bit.

What a wonderful children's story. The world of Oz is so beautiful and strange that even adults can lose themselves in it. It's a super quick and marvellous read. But beware! Some strings in the story aren’t very logical and well connected (which I can overlook) and there is a weird grooming situation (which you should not overlook).
