I understand how this book has become a classic non-fiction read. Though for me, I struggled to read it. It took me a good year to be motivated to finish it. Whilst I liked the overall principles, I found myself skipping over paragraphs and phrases because I couldn’t relate. I felt like some of the examples were outdated, and would’ve enjoyed this a lot more if it was modernised with the same principles.

A good, super helpful and well-written book. Perhaps it was my short attention span or my unfamiliarity with nonfiction that made me drag the reading and skip pages at a time.

I feel like I already have this plot figured out, I’m hoping there’s a good plot twist though because I still have 174 pages to go

Wow. I love reading thrillers and this one really got me. Whilst some elements were predictable (if anyone finds a completely unpredictable thriller let me know...), there was still some shock value. This book was a relative page turner, and could easily be read in one sitting. I loved the then and now and multiple POV perspectives, as it kept the storyline interesting. It was also done in a way that wasn't overdone, and allows you to follow the main character/timeline really easily. My only critique is with the main character, who I felt at times needed to stop and think about her actions and support her other children... I feel like she clearly had a favourite child lol.

Super easy to read. Loving the short chapters and the then and now perspectives!

DNF: 50 pages I couldn’t get into this book. I’ve had this sitting on my shelf for many years and don’t want to force myself to read it. It was taking way to long to build into the main plot point (her pretending to be someone else) and based on other reviews I still had another 50 pages to read until that. I prefer books that hook me into them straight away or sooner than 50 pages.

Vibes: cozy romance I don’t think I would’ve picked this book up if it wasn’t selected as part of the book club. For a cozy book this was a good read, but if you’re wanting a book with a little more depth, it might not be for you. I’m usually not a romance reader, but this was a slow romance and I enjoyed seeing the tension build between the characters. The world felt cozy, kinda like Gilmore Girls - where everyone knows each other and each other’s business. The concept of this book was enjoyable and I liked the characters. However, there wasn’t a whole lot of plot going on… but I guess it’s meant to be cozy and not overly thought provoking.
