I first read this book early high school and loved it. With all the controversy around this book and Colleen Hoover, I wanted to read it again after probably ten years. I found the content to be heavy and needing to take a break from reading at times because of the anxiety I would feel. I do think it was a good book that I wanted to keep reading and see how the story unfolded and overall has a good message. It’s unfortunate the wrongful romanticization of it (Ryle aka the DV in their relationship) and the drama surrounding the movie, author, and cast. I hope any new readers are mature enough to read and understand the message it’s trying to convey.
