“The consensus that exercise in general was deleterious and dangerous to the health of women was a complete fabrication. The teenage girl corrupted by cycling; the woman suffering from a terrifying condition known as “bicycle face”: these patients never walked through the door of any doctor’s office. They were phantoms, boogeymen, conjured by a medical establishment and a society that were deeply alarmed by the mere possibility of a woman developing physical strength, stamina, or, God forbid, muscles.”
This just enraged me to no end 😭 we’re not done with this anti-exercise propaganda yet!! They’re calling it “runners face” now. Good grief.

Wowow, what a read 😮💨
I really enjoyed seeing a morally grey main character. Scion’s was SO frustrating but the story would not have been as impactful without showing the power of indoctrination. I would’ve loved to see some of the side characters more fleshed out (Alba, Aunt Winny, Mordra) so that we could better gauge what happens after all is said and done. Def high up in one of my fave reads of the year ✨
