a smattering of different mythology & legend retellings

Contemporary fantasy books inspired by the legend of King Arthur & related characters - not just Merlin, Lancelot, or the other knights of the roundtable, but the women centered in the myth whose stories are so often cast aside, including Morgana, Guinevere and Nimue. These books center the women of Arthurian legend and their perspectives, or take a feminist spin on the classic Arthurian tale.

Books that are just as good as the cover promises. AKA: Fantastic book covers that also happen to be fantastic books! List will be added to in the future because I can’t leave well enough alone. (Suggestions welcome, leave it in the comments.)

next up in the series is Ell Potter! they have a wide range, from litfic to romance to thrillers to cozy fantasy. named one of audible’s break out stars, Ell has a soothing voice and their cadence just scratches an itch in my brain in the best way. Like my last list, I’ve avoided Audible exclusives so everyone can access these titles through Libby, Hoopla, or Libro.fm.

I have been a long-time fan of Arthurian lit, to the point that I actually took two separate classes in University that covered themes of Arthurian tales, which also increased my library. These are books I actively own, and most of which I have read or at least used in my writing on the Arthurian Age. I do wish I could make comments on the books themselves, as several of these require a little explanation, but if you have any questions, feel free to leave questions or other book suggestions.

I love retellings, especially of mythology or fairy tales. Here's a bunch of my favorite retellings. I've only included the first book if it's a series, but in most cases, all the books are worth reading.
