This book left me emotionally raw and drained contemplating the origin of human evil. Khaled Hosseini crafted a novel so gripping and life changing that you feel transformed. It is a masterpiece showcasing tragic flaws of humanity, love, friendship, the pain of betrayal, the ailings of perpetual guilt and the saving grace of redemption. It is a must read.

So powerful. Not only do you learn about culture and history. But you learn so much about people and how life works. I do want to say that there is a Suicide Trigger, but it was handled very well. I think people should read this to learn more about people.

Ugh... how can I like a book so much while still completely disliking the main character? I know that the entire second half of this book is meant to give Amir a redemption arc, but I'm sorry... he is a bad person. And the change in his character that allows for him to make things right supposedly is just too convenient and not really believable. And yet still, this book is well written and and really tells a compelling and emotional story. I would definitely recommend it.

But damn, f*ck you Amir. A thousand times over.

    I'M NOT CRYING. YOU'RE CRYING.

I don't want to talk about it.

This is my favorite book ever. GOODBYE.

"For you, a thousand times over,"

This sentence describes everything. Loyalty, love, hurt, sorrow.

I hate books describing real events, forcing me to open my eyes for the horrible thing we call life.
However, I can not hate this book. I hate the things going on, at the same time I love the language. I love how Hosseini describes everything in exact detail, the human world with no humanity.

The story about a young boy with a heart of gold, and another boy born with cracks threatening to break him apart. A man bound by his ancestors choice to guide his immoral future, a man beyond sin, beyond cruelty and just completely evil reincarnated. Trust is broken, precious blood is spilled in vain. Hearts break, hearts heal, hearts never stop longing for peace and love.

I was suffocating with every chapter, smiling, crying, screaming. This book is a true masterpiece. I bow down to Khaled Hosseini, excellent job.

I don't have a ton of thoughts on this book. I had to read it for school, and I didn't really enjoy it, but I definitely saw its merit. The writing was my favorite part; the way the story flowed, and the description was just right. It was a lot deeper and touched on some heavier topics than I was expecting.
